What type of computer will I need?

If you have a computer (PC, Mac or other) and you’ve used it to surf the web, more than likely your system will work fine with KYVU courses. Our minimum requirements for a computer are at least a 28.8Kbps modem and a browser that supports attachments. That’s it! Simply put, most modern computers (purchased within the last 3 years) are going to be all you need. Now remember these are minimum requirements. Some instructors and/or classes require additional software. You can find out what each class requires by viewing the course information in the course schedule.

Which browser should I use?

The most common browsers are Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. It is best to have the most current version of these programs to ensure you are up-to-date and viewing information as your instructor intended. These are free downloadable files. Follow the instructions provide at the company web site to be certain that you install the browser software properly.

If you aren’t sure if your browser is up-to-speed, we’ve provided way for you to test your browsers. Our test will also let you know which plug-ins you have and which ones you need. On top of everything else, it will give you a link to download the items you need.

What do I need?

To take a course through KYVU you will first need an Internet connection. This is acquired through an Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you don’t have an Internet connection, check your local Yellowpages for providers in your area.

You’ll also need an e-mail address. You get an e-mail address with most ISP’s. If you prefer, you can also use one of several Internet e-mail providers like hotmail, yahoo or Netscape. These types of e-mail accounts give you the flexibility to check mail from any computer that has an Internet connection.
