The course schedule page allows you to look for courses by semester. You may also want to view courses by any of the other topics listed on the left, such as, program or institution. Explore the course schedule and identify the courses that meet your needs. All KYVU courses are linked to a course description page. The description page will give you additional information such as what institution is offering the course, the name of the instructor, what books you will need, and if any special software or plug-ins are required. What courses should I take? This depends on your goal. If you are seeking a degree, you should choose courses that will fulfill the requirements of your degee program. You may simply want to improve your skills or knowlege of a particular subject and your’re not interested in pursuing a degree at this time. That’s okay too. Try looking through the course schedule by discipline. This may help you find courses that suit your interests and thus starting you on your path toward obtaining a degree. What is a "Home College"? At KYVU we use the term "home college" to represent the institution that will be granting the degree or certification you are obtaining. If you are a student of KCTCS (Kentucky Community and Technical College System), you may take online courses at several Community or Technical Colleges from around the state but you still need to choose one of these as your "home college". This will be the College that will appear on your diploma or certificate. Although the determination of "home college" is your choice, most students will declare the college closest to them as their "home college". Can I take courses from more than one institution? The simple answer to this question is yes. However, because KYVU is only your connection to courses offered through many Kentucky colleges and universities if you take a course from a different institution other than your home college you: - will have to pay tuition to the instution offering the course, it won’t be part of your normal tuition. - will have to make all necessary arrangements for getting the course transferred and accepted by your "home" institution as a requirement of your degree program.
These restrictions do not apply if your home college is in the KCTCS and you are taking courses from a variety of KCTCS colleges You should now be ready to explore the course schedule and decide what classes are right for you!
