  • Types of Sources
    Sometimes you are interested in using a particular kind of source to locate your information. Your professor may have asked you to locate an article from any scholarly journal or even a specific journal. Fortunately there are some databases designed to allow you to define the type of material you want searched such as:

      information in articles
      information in books
      research or scholarly articles
      an article from a specific journal


    An example could be: "gun control" AND dt=research, where "dt" stands for "document type" and you are requesting that only research information, not articles from "Time" or "Newsweek" on the topic gun control, be located.
