Program Description
|
Murray State University offers this program in cooperation with KCTCS and KYVU. The Business Administration program is administered by the Department of Management, Marketing and Business Administration within the College of Business and Public Affairs at Murray State University. The first two years of study are mostly a basic framework of courses, such as english, mathematics, economics, and accounting, and the following two years consist mostly of specialized courses in the various fields of business, including finance, management, marketing, statistics, computers, business ethics and law.
Within the Business Administration area, the business administration program prepares students for a variety of career opportunities. It prepares students with a broad and overall understanding of the functional disciplines of business and for middle- and upper-level management positions in business organizations. A sample of the types of jobs for which a Business Administration degree prepares you includes: business analyst, incorporating specialist, public relations coordinator, teleservices consultant, account manager, small business owner, and consulting.

Objectives pertaining to the BSB degree program are to provide students with
1. a basic knowledge and understanding of the functional areas of business
2. a global, cross-cultural perspective toward conducting business in a culturally-diverse business environment
3. skills in computer business applications and management information systems
4. an opportunity to develop their written and oral communications skills with application to the business environment
5. an ability to recognize and solve problems logically and creatively in an ever-changing business environment
6. an opportunity to further their knowledge and skills in a chosen area of business.

Only about 405 schools internationally have earned this important endorsement at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Admission Requirements
|
You must be admitted to Murray State University to take courses in this program.
Admission to Murray State University is based on academic performance. A minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale is required (please see additional Business Administration Admission Requirements below). How to Apply for Admission:
New transfer students fill out an admission application form and return it to Admissions Services Office, Murray State University, P.O. Box 9, Murray, KY 42071, along with a $30 check for the application fee payable to Murray State University.The application fee is nonrefundable. You can print the application from http://www.murraystate.edu/adm/ad&rg;/apps.htm. Official transcripts must be mailed to MSU directly from all institutions attended.

Academic Prerequisites
|
Students pursuing the BSB program at Murray State University must be admitted to the College of Business and Public Affairs before being allowed to enroll in 300-500 level business courses.
The admission standards are as follows (KCTCS course numbers are shown):
1. applicant must have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours
2. applicant must have completed the following pre-admission courses with a combined GPA of 2.25 or above: ACC 201, ACC 202, STA 291 with a grade of C or higher, CIS 100, ECO 201, ECO 202, ENG 203 or CMS 152, MA 109
3. applicant must have completed the following courses: ENG 101 and ENG 102 with C or higher in both, MA 123
4. applicant must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0
Students may enroll in Murray’s courses if they have met the above admission standards. To enroll, a student must apply for admission to MSU and have official transcripts forwarded to MSU’s Admissions Services Office directly from each college attended.
