KYVU Responds to Students Displaced By Hurricane Katrina
The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina left thousands of students from the devastated Gulf Coast region unable to
pursue their postsecondary education. In an effort to ease the burden on these students, the Kentucky Virtual
University (KYVU) and its partners offer the following
distance learning opportunities.
KCTCS plans to offer a special eight week online session for students displaced by Hurricane Katrina starting October
17. Registration for courses begins October 1. For information on how to request enrollment, please visit the

The response by state and national postecondary institutions to the needs has been has been swift and

Financial Assistance Information
The Student Loan Peoplesm and the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority offer
important information about
financial aid relief for students displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
