Request Enrollment in the KCTCS
Beginning October 17th the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) will offer eight week, no tuition online course sessions
through Kentucky Virtual University (KYVU) as part of
"Operation:
Rebuilding Lives". Requesting enrollment is easy. Just follow these simple steps.
- Browse the KYVU course catalog to view eligible courses. Here’s how:
- Go to the KYVU Advanced Search Page
- Under "Term", check "Fall 2005"
- Under "Institution", select "(KCTCS) Kentucky Community & Technical College System"
- Confirm that "Search only open courses" is checked
- Click "Search"
- Courses will be listed at the bottom of the search results page under the heading "Course
Sections". Eligible courses will be those that begin October 17, 2005. To view the start date
for a course, click on that course and check "Course Availability".
- Click "Add course to EduCart" to add the course to your EduCart.
- When you’re finished selecting courses, click the "View my EduCart" icon at the top of the page to see a list
of courses you have selected and to proceed to the course request form.
- IMPORTANT! On the course request form, select "Yes" affirming you are
a student displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
When you submit your enrollment request, KYVU will forward your request to the appropriate institution. Please
monitor your email for updates on your enrollment status.

In addition to offering courses through KYVU, the sixteen
KCTCS colleges have joined with colleges
and universities across the nation to provide college students displaced by Hurricane Katrina with
Sloan Semester Classes. The
Sloan Semester, funded by the Sloan Foundation in
collaboration with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), allows recently displaced students to continue their
college work via distance learning from any of the over 200 colleges and universities at no tuition. In addition,
the free online courses will be offered to students serving in the National Guard whose studies were interrupted by
being called to active duty in the aftermath of the hurricane.
