How do I register for a program or course?
Since you now know where to find the information you need on the KYVU site, let’s cover some important, specific points, like how to register with the KYVU. Registering for a program or course is easy once you’ve decided which one you want to take. What you take should be based on your educational goals.
When you fill out a KYVU online registration form, KYVU submits your registration
to the institution offering your course. If you are registering for courses
from multiple institutions, KYVU submits your registration to each institution.
If you are requesting enrollment into an academic credit-bearing course, your
registration is placed in a "pending" mode until the institution
has processed your registration and has accepted you into a course. Depending
on institution, this process may take several weeks—you may check your
course enrollment status at any time by looking under the “My Services” section
in your KY Virtual eLearning Portal. Contact the Registrar’s Office of
the KYVU Provider for that course if you have any questions. For contact information

Through a special agreement of the Kentucky Council of Chief Academic Officers,
most credits earned through KYVU’s online courses will transfer to any institution
in the state of Kentucky. To find out if your online courses will satisfy the
requirements of another institution’s program, you will need to contact that
institution’s program coordinator. The contact information is in the

How do I know if online learning is for me?
The KYVU and your educational provider institution do everything we can to make you a successful online student; however, your ability to take responsibility for your education is a key component to your success as an online student. Being familiar with word processing and e-mail and having adequate typing skills will all help you succeed.

First, you can access all our educational providers’ courses throughout Kentucky from a single site and register for any of those courses with a single application form (and with only one application fee).

Third, enrolling through the KYVU allows you to access the Kentucky Virtual Library, the KYVL, from your home computer. The KYVL not only offers access to over 40 electronic databases but also tips and training for getting the most out of your online research. Through the KYVL, you can access many articles online or search for books held in libraries throughout Kentucky or find Kentucky historical material through the Kentuckiana Digital Library.
What is the difference between the KYVU and its partners?
The KYVU does not grant degrees, credits, or certificate. The degree or certificate you receive will be from your educational provider.
As well, when you log on to KYVU, you will find the KY Virtual eLearning Portal. From here, you can directly link to the KYVL and check your e-mail. You may need to take your courses in a different eLearning portal depending on what course management system your provider uses. If so, you will be given specific instructions on how to log on to the other eLearning portal and where you can get technical support.
