KYVU Symposium on Accessibility for Online Learning

KYVU will hold a Symposium on Accessibility for Online Learning at Eastern Kentucky University October 9, 2002. The one-day session will focus on understanding ADA/508 issues and resources as they relate to the creation and delivery of instruction that uses the Internet. The goal of the symposium is to connect the different campus groups responsible for creating and implementing ADA/Section 508 guidelines, allowing them to return to their institutions and convene the necessary constituencies to address compliance issues.

The sessions will address issues that institutions and faculty need to consider when designing online instruction. Those attending the symposium should be personnel that are associated with the planning, supporting, and/or ensuring the accessibility of online instruction. The symposium is not intended to be a training session in ADA complaint course construction specifics. Identified constituencies include: personnel with responsibilities for ADA compliance, distance learning, faculty development, instructional technology including CMS system administrators, instructional development support personnel, and institutional general counsel.
